Nina Walia

Bio

Nina Walia has overseen interaction design and content development of websites and games for the Webby-award winning pbskids.org since 2004. Committed to making a positive impact on the lives of children through gaming, she has worked with educational television producers on a variety of award-winning program sites such as Curious George and The Jim Henson Company’s Sid the Science Kid. Her current focus is creating compelling gaming experiences that span multiple screens, including mobile devices and interactive whiteboards. She has been a featured speaker on issues of usability, gaming, and cross-platform strategy at the International Conference for Interaction Design and Children (Finland), South By Southwest Interactive, and the National Black Programming Consortium's New Media Institute. Before coming to PBS, she earned a MS in Information Design and Technology from Georgia Tech where she examined how handheld computers can be used effectively by middle-school science students, sound designed responsive media spaces, and created shisha:: a digital mirror to reflect collective identity exploration and contextualize online community discussion.
