Paul Herzog

Assistant Professor of Game Programming and Department Chair of Software Technology
Champlain College


Paul Herzog joined the faculty of the IT and Science Division of Champlain College as an Associate Professor of Game Programming in 2007 and is currently the department chair for Software Technology including Game Programming.  He is responsible for the Game Programming curriculum, and has instructed and developed several of the courses, as well as  a taking a lead in the evolution of the curriculum for the Computer Science and Software Engineering program at Champlain.  He has over 25 years experience managing, designing, and creating commercial software for a wide range of computing platforms.  He has developed software in Europe and the US, for Fortune-100 multinational companies, while serving in a variety of technical roles including VP Engineering, Technical Director, Lead Programmer, and Project Manager.  Paul is an active Mac, Linux and iPhone developer with interests in high-end 3D graphics, audio, video, and real-time animation.  He served as the lead developer for the NBA's video archiving, retrieval, encoding and post-production audio/video automation workflow for current and historic NBA games, interviews and events.  Most recently, he worked as a member of the engineering team providing the leading speech recognition software for Apple Mac computer.
