Synopsis

This panel will discuss strategies of making video game curriculum modular, hands-on and streamlined to serve the needs of the industry. Ideas for creating an modular game curriculum repository will be discussed. Participants will be asked to fill out a brief questionnaire on curriculum delivery mechanism they currently practice.  This panel will be ideal for educators who have either fully established or are in the early stages of establishing a video game curriculum at their institution.  Amresh and Child have been developing video game curricula at both undergraduate and masters level at Arizona State University and City University London, respectively, for the past three years.  has been supporting developers at Sony for 2 years following a dozen years in game development himself,  Rusty Buchert has been working on PSN titles for the PS3 and the PSP for the last 3 years as well as watching universities for promising teams and game concepts. He is also a 19 year veteran of the games industry, McCreary has advised on the development of game programs at USC (Engineering & Cinema), Cornell, FIEA, among many others.  A short presentation on their current strategies in developing a industry focused curriculum will be followed by a panel discussion.
