Synopsis

Among the many challenges facing the US Government today is the need to ensure the safety and preparedness of its military both on and off the battle field. In this interactive presentation Sharon Sloane, CEO and President of WILL Interactive, will demonstrate how serious games can effectively meet the training requirements for governmental training programs. The presentation will allow the audience to play through interactive programs currently used by the armed forces, which are being exposing soldiers to some of the most delicate areas of behavioral training.

Almost half of the U.S. Military is currently under the age of 25, meaning today's soldiers grew up playing video games. What better way to teach them than by using an interactive medium with which they can identify? Behavioral and social issues, often difficult to teach in an academic setting, translate to the user more effectively when using realistic serious games. Players get a chance to make decisions in a virtual world before facing them in real life.

This presentation will show how immersive learning simulations compress experience by allowing learners to "play it out before they live it out." By blending live action and real actors with cutting edge technology in its training programs the military can give soldiers a more realistic idea of the actual environment they will face. Emotionally engaging users, serious games increase the retention and effectiveness of the lessons.
