Presentation Summary:

This session focuses on how to incorporate gameplay, narrative, instructional design, subject matter expertise into an engaging online classroom experience.

Paper Abstract:

Topics include learning management systems (LMSs), assessment issues, multiplayer aspects (including asynchronous vs. synchronous communication and teamplay between classrooms and schools), and how to “think global” when visualizing online instruction. A case study focusing on a business simulation course developed for an accredited college is explored in-depth – including team recruitment, role assignment, development cycle, virtual project management tools, and the integration of instructional design and subject matter expertise into the game design team. [If session is accepted, full paper will be submitted prior to the June deadline; in the meantime, a detailed outline of this session can be downloaded by accessing the "click here to read submitted paper" link below.]
