Presentation Summary:A post-mortem of the IGF 2010 Student Showcase winning game Devil’s Tuning Fork from the perspective of the faculty advisors. The talk will impart lessons for solving institutional and academic challenges that faculty at other educational institutions can use to organize projects like this one.Paper Abstract:Devil’s Tuning Fork is an IGF 2010 Student showcase winning game created by 15 DePaul University students with the help of industry advisors and DePaul faculty. This talk will present a post-mortem of this project from the perspective of the faculty advising the project. Rather than focus on what the students learned, attendees will gain insights on the institutional, organizational, and academic challenges and issues that faculty faced in setting the stage for a project like this to exist. The talk will also cover the role that faculty and industry advisors played in helping the students manage their project. The talk will impart lessons that faculty at other educational institutions can use to help organize projects like this one. |
